![]() Final recommendation pick it up full price. The game could have updated some aspects of the game like map design. Overall this was a great game and a great chance for newcomers to experience an older title, especially one that never got into the west. Celica fucks up in her story for no reason +Polished Gameplay and balanced mechanics +Supreb presentation with good animations and god level voice acting and script +Simple yet clear and concise story with good writing Inmagine all the time you miss with a 99% hit rate and got crit'd with a 1% crit and 4% hit rite. You thought Fates and Binding Blade had bullshit rng, well nah fam there way worse here. The problem is that they do this every turn, the hp cost is minimal and they on healing tiles so they can do this for eternity!!!!!! You can actually use this to level up continuously and learn skills faster. These guy have the ability to summon terrors. These guys were a nightmare to deal with. This is when being too faithful to the original is detrimental to the remake.ĭon't want to use a pic for these motherfuckers. The perfect example of this is Nuibaba's abode. With the except of Rudolph, Duma's and Berkut's final map, these are just fustrating. Its literally a square map with some forest and fort terrains most of the time. As much as I love this game, the map design is just terrible both in gaiden and SoV. Notice how I never touched the map design in the positives? Because it's shit. The positives are strong with this one yeah? Does that mean there aren't any flaws? Nope!!! There are still Class skill but their all passive. Now skills are tied to weapons so to learn all the skills you have to max the weapon exp gauge and if you want to keep the skills you like, you have to keep the weapon. This allows players to undo moves, character death and other mistakes on the battlefield but has limited charges so use it wisely. Class promotions now occur at Mila shrine and go up to third tier. ![]() Dungeon exploration is also updated from gaiden with not more depth so the dungeons now have many twist and turns, encouraging more exploration and exp grinding to get stronger. I liked this because it actually makes people play the game carefully and not just spam magic without care like in awakening. The trade off is that magic cost hp, the stronger the spell, the higher the hp costs. Spells deals alot of damage and ignore terrain bonuses which are buffed up this time around now going from 20% to 60%. Instead of buying tomes, mages learn by levleing up with spells differing depending on the character. Speaking of which, archer now function like they did in gaiden which is a godsend!!!!! Archer now have 3 range normally and 5 range when equipped with a bow and they can fight close range. The absence of the weapon triangle forces you to rely on other thing than weapon advantage such as a knight's defence to bottleneck waves of troops or archers long range. SoV goes back to the series' roots by focusing on positioning instead of cheesing the game with pair up. Celica's story starts really strong but suffers later on and I'll tell you why later. Alm's journey is badass in every sense of the word. It's not as complex or deep as the Tellius or Jundral series but its still enjoyable, interesting and focused unlike Fates. There's also a lot of world building as you progress through the story with the background of Valentia and Mila and Duma. You actually understand what's happening and why. The story is basic and straight to the point, but also effective and focused on the world of the game. ![]() Along the way the Duma faithful and Duma are hinted to be connected to all of this. On Alm's side, he joins the deliverance to kill Desaix and drive back Rigel and on Celica's side she investigates Mila disappearance. Mila and Duma were at odds but managed to make a truce that lasted for a long time until resently when Rigel invaded Zofia, King Lima VII was killed in a coup by Desaix, Terrors return and Mila goes missing. The continent is divided into two kingdoms the militaristic kingdom of Rigel led by Emperor Rudolph and the divine dragon Duma and the bountiful kingdom of Zofia led by King Lima VII the divine dragon Mila. SoV is a remake of Gaiden and follows the story of the duel protagonists Alm and Celica in the continent of Valentia.
